Each year through the Better Communities Program we provide funding to Canadian registered charities chosen by brokers that focus on child poverty and youth success.

Focus areas

 

We are dedicated to investing and making a positive, lasting impact in our communities by supporting charities that focus on:

Child poverty

 

 

Programs creating opportunities for children and families living in poverty that supplement the basics and enhance the lives of children.

Examples include programs that provide:

 

 

Meals

 

Transportation

 

Recreational activities

 

Educational programs

 

Access to tools such as hi-speed internet and computers

Youth empowerment

 

 

Programs supporting excellence in youth development that provide engaging activities promoting leadership skills and self-improvement.

Examples include programs that provide:

 

 

Sports and recreational activities

 

Leadership development

 

Health and wellness guidance

 

Mental health services

 

Skills based education courses

 

Access to tools such as hi-speed internet and computers

Program eligibility

Payment is to a Canadian registered charity

 

The funding is restricted to a focus on child poverty and/or youth empowerment

 

Can be a donation, sponsorship, bursary or grant

 

Requests are funded within a range of $2,500 to $10,000 with $5,000 being the average

 

Have approval from an authorized representative of the registered charity before applying for funding on their behalf. Registered charities may also apply directly

Still unsure if the charity qualifies? Don’t worry, additional information in the application will assist you.

 

The application takes about 15 minutes to complete. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation e-mail to acknowledge that we have received your application.

Please note that although all applications will be reviewed funding is not guaranteed.

 

 

Next steps

 

Applications will be reviewed and funds allocated within 13 weeks of the application window closing (May 22, 2022).  All applicants will receive a letter confirming the status of their application. Selected charities will receive a cheque directly from Intact Payables by mail.

  • Is the Better Communities program affiliated with the Intact Foundation?

    The Better Communities Program is not affiliated with the Intact Foundation.

  • Can I still submit a request to the Intact Foundation?

  • What if my application is declined?

    While we appreciate the value of every request that we receive, we are not able to support every charity that is presented to us. We also reserve the right to decline initiatives that do not align with our focus on child poverty and youth empowerment.

  • Are there organizations that will not be supported through the program?

    Yes, the Better Communities Program does not support the following:

     

    • Advertising in yearbooks, handbooks, journals, and event programs

     

    • Advocacy or lobbying

     

    • Capital campaigns

     

    • Political contributions

     

    • Professional associations or societies

     

    • Cost of fundraising or participatory events, such as tournaments, benefits, auctions, dinners, lotteries or ticket purchases

     

    • Charitable organization’s travel, accommodation or meal expenses
